Hi there.

I've but paid £20 plus visit fee for ddog2 for drops for conjuctivitis. Both dogs quite often practice get it, I wonder if information technology's because they are spaniels? I don't know if that's a trait. I recognise the signs, and the dog woke up with a gunky eye, rather than coming out of a bush-league with an injury to said center.

That'southward quite a high cost for a 'routine' irritation.

Can I utilize man drops? I completely understand if the answer is no! smile

I have before and information technology cleared her center up quickly. Just don't mention to chemist it's for a domestic dog, first one refused every bit it wasn't licensed for pet employ. I had to go to another chemist and pretend it was for my husband.

My vet told me to utilize the homo ones as they were essentially the same matter and a lot cheaper!

Homo Chloramphenicol ointment is mayhap fifty-fifty improve than drops as it stays in the eye for longer.
I gave also used Colloidial Silverish spray very successfully on spanielly eyes & ears.

Chloramphenicol ointment is what my canis familiaris started on. However she hated having it put in so we swapped to the drops which she tolerates fine.

Golden Eye is keen for dogs, I've always got a tube in the dog drawer.

Thanks, these suggestions are noted. I feel a touch ripped off tonight at £20 for a small tube of ointment. sad

Ddog won't let the states put drops in his centre and then I when he had it once I merely fabricated up some well dissolved salt h2o and soaked a piece of kitcehn gyre the wiped his optics from ear side to snout side. Cleared it up quite speedily and he was less distressed. Might exist worth trying?

MrsBungle Thu 13-Oct-xvi 22:xviii:01

I did. I assumed if I could put them in my toddlers eye they would be ok in my hulking weimaranera eye, I did Google offset. Information technology cleared information technology up apace and he was fine.

It's Golden Eye from at present on then. Or similar. Thanks guys. I unremarkably am really chuffed with our vets, they are lovely and caring and easy to access, but £20 plus visit fee has pee'd me off a impact. I guess it could take been an injured heart though.

I've used Golden Eye ointment for years too. I normally wipe away the gunge with one of those flat, round lint pads (Aldi sell them cheaply) soaked in Optrex heart wash first.

Chlorophenicol 1% in Golden eye crem, not drops-I recall, also in Brolene and what the vet volition start your dog on, then may likewise go to the chemist. Works on me, dogs, horse.

Hullo,
My Cockapoo is 16 months and has conjunctivitis. I've just bought some chlorophenicol and wondered if the dosage is the same for dogs as it is for humans I.e 5 days course - 1st 48 hours every 2 hours then every 4 hours afterwards? Also states for adults and children over two years old and the domestic dog is under two. I'm all for saving a bit of cash just not at the detriment of the dogs health hence the reason for asking advice. Thanks

Tweakie my Boston terrier has the same course as a human then your cockerpoo will be fine smile
